CC Low Noise is a new generation of returnable transport items from Container Centralen that has been developed to accommodate demand for quiet delivery equipment that can be used for distribution to retail outlets during nights and early mornings.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that European governments make noise reductions in urban environments a legal requirement. On the basis of WHO’s Night Noise Guidelines for Europe, several countries have initiated programmes to make low-noise distribution operations.
|
In Holland, the government has developed the PIEK certification scheme as a common standard for noise-reduced technology. To be certified, a product in use must emit less than 60 dB at 7.5 m from the sound source.
The CC Low Noise Rolly, CC Low Noise Dolly, CC Euro Rolly and CC Euro Rollcontainer have already received the Dutch PIEK certification and can therefore be used for quiet distribution during nights and early mornings. |

The introduction of quiet out-of-hours deliveries benefits businesses that will be able to distribute goods out of hours, as well as residents who will be able to get a good night’s sleep. Moving distribution traffic to night-time and early mornings can help:
- Improve journey time and fuel economy for transporters
- Improve stock turn-around
- Reduce road congestion saving everyone time and money
- Cut pollution and CO2 and NOx emissions in local areas
- Improve road safety for vulnerable targets
